Master Gardener Volunteer Training Applications

— Written By

The Moore County Center of the North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service is currently accepting applications for the Master Gardener Volunteer Program, until Monday, October 2. An interview is required, and applicants are encouraged to apply before the deadline. Interviews and classes will be held at the Agricultural Center in Carthage. Classes will take place 9:00 a.m. to noon Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning Tuesday, October 3 through Thursday, November 30. 50 hours of classroom and field instruction cover practical aspects of gardening and landscaping. We emphasize sustainable and organic methods of gardening. Students must commit to 20 hours of volunteer service in youth gardening programs or client “helpline” duty, and 20 additional hours in other Extension programs. A $150 fee for training materials applies to those accepted into the program. Call Taylor WIlliams (910-947-3188) or email taylor_williams@ncsu.edu for more information.
