Sandhills AGInnovation Center Ribbon Cutting & Open House

— Written By

The Sandhills AGInnovation Center located at the intersection of NC Highways 73 and 220 in Richmond County is an area food hub that will provide economic opportunity for Moore County farms as well as farms from surrounding counties by connecting producers to buyers. Established as a non-profit from $500,000 in grant funding secured through a partnership between Moore County Partners in Progress, the Richmond and Moore County Centers of North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service, and Richmond and Moore County governments from the Golden LEAF Foundation, the objective of the AGInnovation Center is to help farms transitioning from growing tobacco to fruit and vegetable production distribute their crops to profitable local and state-wide markets.  Agriculture in Moore County contributes over to $150,000,000 in revenue and makes up 20% of the local economy.  The Sandhills AGInnovation Center will add to the sustainability and continued prosperity of Moore County agriculture. Please join us for the ribbon cutting ceremony, followed by a tour of the facility on September 7 at 10:30 am.
