Don’t Forget to Answer the 2017 Census of Agriculture

— Written By

The USDA and the US Congress depends on the Census of Agriculture that accounts for all US farms and ranches to determine which agricultural policies to develop and which programs to support. An accurate agricultural census is crucial for the growth and sustainability of our local food and agricultural systems. Complete the census by February 5, 2018 at the National Sustainable Agriculture Coalition website if you have not yet answered or did not receive the 2017 survey sent out earlier in year to by the National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) and if you are a farmer or rancher including farmers that are organic, direct-market, urban, beginning, and socially disadvantaged. The Census of Agriculture is only collected every 5 years. The next census will not be held until 2022.
