Participants will also have weekly scavenger hunt to complete at the local farmers markets.
Weekly bags will be provided for the participants and will need to be picked up at the N.C. Cooperative Extension, Henderson
County Center in Jackson Park. These bags will contain the featured fruit or vegetable
purchased from the local farmers market, as well as some basic cooking utensils to be used in
their food preparation at home. Return the bag each week so they can be used the following
week. (You will have 2 bags by the end of the program.)

The classes will be recorded and accessed at a time that is convenient for the child and parent. The link will be sent out on Tuesday morning by 10 a.m.
Parents will also be involved by taking their children to the farmer’s market to complete their scavenger hunt, to the grocery store to purchase additional ingredients for the recipe (if needed), and supervising them as they prepare the food at home.

Weekly photos of the child preparing the food and the end product need to be sent to Renay Knapp. Participants who submit their weekly photos, farmers market scavenger hunts, and their Farmers Market Passport, will receive a small piece of equipment to prepare healthy snacks on their own at home.
Pre-registration, including a $15 registration fee, is due by July 16. Space is limited so get your registration form and fee turned in as quickly as possible.

Register online before July 16!
