This exciting STEM camp explores the science, engineering, and technology behind NASCAR racing using remote-controlled cars and hands-on engineering activities. Youth will learn speed, aerodynamics, force, and design all work together in motorsports while applying STEM concepts in a fun, competitive environment.
Participants will take part in interactive building and testing activities, racing challenges, and team-based problem solving. The camp also includes educational field experiences, such as a behind-the-scenes tour of a NASCAR race shop. Youth will travel to the Harnett County Cooperative Extension Office twice during the week and complete a full-day field trip as part of the program.
This camp encourages teamwork, critical thinking, engineering design, and real-world STEM application.
Additional Note: There is also an optional opportunity to attend a NASCAR race in Fall 2026 at either Charlotte Motor Speedway or Martinsville Speedway (Virginia).
Supplies Needed: Participants will need to pack lunch each day, but snacks will be provided.
